How to auto-apply on Greenhouse and Lever

Greenhouse and Lever are the two systems most startups use, and they are far friendlier to automation than Workday. Here is how their forms differ and what that means for applying at volume.

Updated 17 September 2026

If you are applying to startups and mid-size technology companies, most of the forms you meet are Greenhouse or Lever. Both are much simpler than Workday: usually no account to create, a short form, and a resume upload.

How the two differ

  • Greenhouse forms are a single page: name, contact, resume, a few custom questions the employer wrote, and demographic questions that are optional by law in most places.
  • Lever forms are shorter still, and frequently include free-text questions the employer added, which is where a generic answer is obvious.
  • Both are usually reachable without an account, which is why they are the sensible place to start applying at volume.

Where volume goes wrong

Because these forms are easy to fill, they are easy to spam, and recruiters at these companies see the result every day. The same resume sent to 200 postings is visible from the first line. What makes volume work is that each application is aimed at the posting it goes to.

A useful test: read the resume that is about to go out, without knowing which job it is for. If you cannot tell, neither can the person reading it.

The workflow that holds up

  • Find the postings on the employers own board, not through an aggregator, so the link is live and the form is the real one.
  • Rank them against what you actually want, and drop the ones you would not take.
  • Tailor the resume per posting: same history, wording aimed at what the posting asks for.
  • Fill and submit from your own browser, so the application arrives as an ordinary one.
  • Answer the free-text questions yourself on the roles you care about. This is the part worth your time.

applyNchill does the first four of those and leaves you the fifth. The extension supports Greenhouse and Lever alongside Workday, Oracle Cloud, SmartRecruiters and Naukri, and it runs in your browser rather than on our servers.

How many a day is sensible

The free plan here allows 12 applications a day. That number is not a teaser: it is roughly how many genuinely suitable new postings appear per day for one person with a couple of target roles. Tools that advertise hundreds a day are counting submissions, not interviews.
