six stages · outreach worker · on your machine
Cold email
Finds and verifies recruiter addresses, drafts something specific to each, and sends a small paced batch from your own Gmail — never without you saying so.
How this stage flows
Target companies are drawn from the jobs you are applying to. Per company, an address pattern is discovered and then verified by a free existence check. Per person, named recruiters in HR and talent acquisition are gathered deliberately. The drafts are held until you approve the batch, and only then sent from your own Gmail, paced, and written to the ledger.
per company: what shape is their address?
per person: who is worth writing to?
drafted, then held for you
sent from your address, paced
Two loops — one per company, one per person — and a human between the draft and the send.
This stage needs something from you, and it is worth being blunt about it
Cold email sends from your address, which means it has to sign in to your mailbox. It does not use a Google account sign-in and it never asks for your password. It uses a Gmail app password: a sixteen-character token you generate yourself, that works only for mail, and that you can revoke in one click without changing anything else about your account.
- You generate it, in your own Google account settings.
- It grants mail sending and nothing else. No Drive, no contacts, no profile.
- It is stored against your account here and shown back to you as four characters, so you can tell which one it is without it being readable.
- Revoking it in Google stops sending immediately, and changes nothing else about your account.
If you would rather not hand over an app password, this is the one stage of the six you can simply leave switched off. Everything upstream — fetching, ranking, tailoring, applying — works exactly the same without it.
Addresses are verified before anything is sent
Guessing an address and sending to it is how a personal domain acquires a reputation problem. Patterns are inferred per company and then checked for existence before a draft is instantiated at all, so the batch that reaches you is a batch of addresses that resolve.
Why the daily cap is low
Twenty-five to thirty a day, paced. That is not a throttle imposed by an API. A personal Gmail that sends outreach at volume stops looking like a person, and the cost of that is your own address rather than a rate-limit message.
